If you’ve always wanted to try scuba diving, but don’t want to commit to the full PADI Open Water certification then this is for you! Sri Lankan Tour Hub’s professional team of international PADI instructors can introduce you to the equipment in the swimming pool, before taking you on your first underwater adventure! In the ocean, you can admire the wonderfully diverse marine life.
Day 1: Colombo Airport – Hikkaduwa Beach
Once you arrive at Colombo International Airport (CMB), Sri Lankan Tour Hub’s guides will pick you up from the airport. Then, you will directly be transferred to the Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka via E01 Sothern Express Highway.
On this day, the guides will show you the city and beach around Hikkaduwa. You will check-in and meet the team. There, you will enjoy seafood beach barbecue local foods and Sri Lankan style cocktails. Afterward, you can visit a beach or take a rest as you wish.
Day 2: Hikkaduwa (1 dive) – Rock Outcrops, Reef, and Ridges – Staying in Hikkaduwa
What you will do?
- 1 hour video annalists education
- Practice in swimming pool
- The program starts at 9:30 a.m. at the dive shop on the beach
- 45 minutes water dive practice
- Learn safety and how to use equipment
With qualification, one can then visit the deeper sites, caverns, rock outcrops, reef, and ridges, as well as the shipwrecks that this area is famous for. Well maintained and populated with several colorful specie of reef and rock dwellers, the sites abound with plant and corals. Pelagic specie, like tuna, mackerel, bonito, trevally, and barracuda make their regular visits.
The grouper with their attendant cleaner wrasse and Morays peering out inquisitively from homes, live in symbiosis with colorful shrimp. Parrot fish constantly patrol, and trigger fish dart over the rocks, while several species of surgeon fish are ever present.
You will begin your day with enjoying a breakfast buffet, a combination of Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily). You will have a discover diving lessons or professional dive guiding at a diving school near the beach for almost three hours, that you can collect your basic equipment and start your practice and discover diving at Hikkaduwa Diving Center with the team.
After diving, you can visit places in Hikkaduwa city like the shopping center. You will also have a chance to see an evening sunset at the same point. You will have your dinner at the Hikkaduwa Beach and come back to your accommodation.
Day 3: Hikkaduwa – Galle Dutch Fort – Unawatuna Beach
You will begin your day by enjoying a breakfast buffet, a combination of Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily). Today, you will have a wonderful tour in Galle Dutch Fort. Galle is the place where the Portuguese made their initial landing in 1505, when they made their first foray into the unknown (to them) lands of Sri Lanka.
After this excursion and after lunch time, you will travel to Unawatuna city for the next dive camp center and then, you will move to watch other beaches, dive shop, and accommodation. You will also have a chance to feel an evening sunset at the Unawatuna Beach. You will have your dinner at the Unawatuna Beach and come back to your accommodation.
Day 4: Unawatuna Napoleon Reef Dive (2 dives) – Move to Weligama Beach & City
This stunning diving site is located five minutes away from the dive center to the left side. This starts with six meters and you can go 18 meters under. The reef spreads one kilometer and you can see rocks and the reef area. There are many different kinds of reef fishes. You can see napoleon fish; one fish is 40 kilograms or more. There are many groupers, moray ells, various types of sea plants, and slugs. This is one of the great and stunning dive sites located in Unawatuna.
You will begin your day by enjoying a breakfast buffet, a combination of Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily). You will have a discover diving lessons or professional dive guiding at a diving school near the beach for almost three hours, that you can collect your basic equipment and start your practice and discover diving at the Napoleon Reef with the team.
After lunch time, you will travel to Weligama City for the next dive camp center and then you will move to watch other beaches, dive shop, and accommodation. You will also have a chance to feel an evening sunset and practice beginners surfing lessons there. You will have your dinner at the Weligama Beach and come back to your accommodation.
Day 5:: Weligama (1 dive) – Dispa Rock – Bridge Rock – Staying in Weligama (1 night dive)
Dispa Rock is a massive rock formation that rises above 15 meters from the sea bed. Its pinnacle is about 5 meters from the surface. And this is the deepest and most exotic diving site accessible for now from Weligama and Mirissa area. Spotted are wide range of marine life including triggerfish. You may be lucky to spot blues and sperms (whale) too at this spot.
Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast of both Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily as you wish). This will be day five of your diving career, so slap on the sunscreen, take your theory and practical lesson at the theater (the theory is every day and can be before or after the dive session), jump in a tuk tuk, and head to the dive school for either a lesson or guided dive in Dispa Rock.
After dives, you can chill in the afternoon with some beach games such as surfing. You may explore Weligama, shop, relax at the beach, or grab a board and jump in for a free surf. There are optional adventures for you to do in the afternoons if you don’t feel like surfing again.
- Basic yoga class starts at 5:30 p.m.
- Discover adventure night dive starts at 7:30 p.m. till 8:30 p.m.
You will have your dinner on the beach. You can have your rest or go to enjoy the DJ music in the night as per your choice.
Day 6: Beginners Surf Lesson and Sunset Yoga Class
You will begin your day by enjoying a breakfast buffet, a combination of Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily). You will have a surfing lesson or professional surf guiding at My Surf Camp Surf School on the beach for almost two hours. You can collect your basic surfboard and start your practice with the surf teacher.
You will have your buffet for lunch. In the spare time, you may relax on the beach, go snorkeling, or you’re free to practice surfing in the afternoon. You can go watch the evening sunset on the beach and do yoga with a yoga teacher till the sun goes down. In the evening, you will enjoy a barbecue grilled dinner or Sri Lankan food and take a rest.
Day 7: Surf Lesson – Sunset Yoga
Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast of both Sri Lankan and western foods (changing daily as you wish). This will be day two of your surfing career, so slap on the sunscreen, take your theory and practical lesson at the theater (the theory is every day and can be before or after the surf session), jump in a tuk-tuk, and head to the surf school for either a lesson or guided surf. The afternoon is yours for the taking.
You may explore Weligama, shop, relax at the beach, or grab a board and jump in for a free surf. My Surf Camp will have recommended optional adventures for you to do in the afternoons if you don’t feel like surfing again.
At the end of the day, head back to camp, enjoy your free yoga session at sunset. My Surf Camp team will show and teach you how to make Sri Lankan food by yourself such as rice and curry with coconut and coconut milk too. Enjoy your own dinner and end the day with some well-deserved beers and as you wish.
Day 8: Weligama – Surfing – Tour End
After your breakfast, you will have a surfing lesson or professional surf guiding at the campsite and be provided with surfboards for free surfing. You will have a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast with local foods.
After all the lessons are finished, hopefully you will be able to catch your own dive/surf at your own dives/surf spot. Check out is by 11:00 a.m. Grab some photos to show off to your friends. Level 1 surfing lesson
Level 1 surfing lesson is designed for the complete beginner and for those who have not tried surfing and have not been able to catch a wave by themselves. You will learn surfing with the right techniques accompanied with friendly and experienced surfing instructors of the My Surf Camp. One instructor will guide a maximum of two persons. This is for first-timers; this shorter beginner’s class is recommended, as surfing is a physically demanding sport and can be quite tiring!
Level 2 surfing lesson
Level 2 surfing lesson is designed for the surfers who can catch a wave in the white water but want to continue to progress their surfing and learn safety tips, tricks, how to go to the lineup, how to catch a green wave properly, and turn so they can improve from a beginner surfing level to an intermediate one.
Intermediate surf lessons
An innovative and unique coaching system for intermediate and advanced surf lessons is thought of as one of the best island-wide. Developing your surfing technique
Board selection and design service is unlike any other surf camp or school. Imagine having just the right board being chosen by your own coach? A board that will really help you have more fun and advance in your surfing.

The advanced surf lessons are focused on helping surfers to have more fun by gaining more control and better flow and consistency to your riding in more challenging waves.
What will you learn in advanced surf lessons?
This course will help you improve your bottom turn and to learn top turns or cutbacks, how to duck dive, and how to take control of your speed. Progress from passively gliding down the wave to actively surfing it.
Learn how to generate speed, choose the right maneuvers to stay in the power pocket of the wave, and how to improve your paddling technique so you use less energy.
The instructors can also help with advanced takeoff techniques to minimize wipe-outs, and help you acquire better wave-reading to avoid close-outs and get a better position in the line-up.
How do advanced surf lessons work?
The instructors will do a short assessment that will help to determine your surfing level, so they can tailor the right training programs with specific exercises for you.
Depending on your abilities and goals, they will help you focus on the right exercises and on choosing the right equipment. They’ll ensure you don’t limit your development through poor equipment choices, such as having too small a board or the wrong fin set-up, etc.
All surf instructors are skilled and professional, certified by the International Surfing Association (ISA).
Sri Lankan Tour Hub keeps the groups small, always working to a maximum of eight students per instructor, in keeping with the recommendation of the ISA.
